In this world we take a lot of things for granted, we know that if we walk into a supermarket there will be fresh produce ready for us to pick up and eat. But we've become removed from nature and the process of cultivation.
Weeds can be seen not as nuisances but as beauties in their own right. We used to live off the wild herbs and plants that grew around us and I wanted to bring that back. This prototype subverts the vertical farm by replacing the more sought after plants with dandelions, providing them with light and water as if they were your average vegetable. After harvesting, the roots were dried and ground up to be used as a coffee substitute. The trend towards more organic and sustainable products means we are turning back to nature and we should use the technology already available to help us.
